Mastering Science

Published 26 April 1991
Science is presented in historical perspective, as an increasing of knowledge and as an aspect of human endeavour. Reference is also made to the relevance of science to our everyday lives - to its economic importance, environmental impact and social consequences. Simple practical investigations are included to encourage good scientific practice: careful observation, precise measurement, accurate recording, the interpretation of evidence and the preparation of concise written reports. No previous knowledge of science is assumed.
