This text covers all methods of optimization from classical random optimization methods to cutting-edge heuristic techniques including simulated annealing, tabu search, hybrid search, and genetic algorithms. Older classic methods are discussed in the first part of the book as a point of comparison, while the remaining three sections deal with the latest heuristic methods both from a theoretical and a practical point of view. In many cases, detailed algorithms are supplied so that the user may customize them for their own use.
