British Political Parties

This is an introduction to the development, organization and role of political parties in Britain. For all three major parties, this text provides details of organization, internal elections, funding, ideology, groups and factions, MPs and candidates, and an account of the party's recent history. Similar details are also provided for other parties in the British political system, notably nationalist parties. The book thus provides an overview of the British political system and an analysis of the role parties play in contemporary British politics. It also looks at the structure of party membership and party electoral performance. An appendix lists British and European election results.
