This is an account of large-scale excavations revealing the development of an extensive Iron Age settlement and small Roman town in Hertfordshire from c. 200 B.C. to A.D. 450. Among the furnished burials is an important La Tene III tomb. The book includes valuable discussions of the British coinage, of a wide variety of Gallo-Belgic and other imported Gaulish pottery, of the trading networks within the region and of the implications for the economy of the many animal bones from the site.
