Provides preparation for the GCSE based on the syllabuses to be examined from 1998. The revision is designed to prepare candidates to achieve at least a grade C, with most tasks set at a level representative of the achievement required for higher grades. Most of the tasks in this work have Spanish rubrics and require a response in Spanish. A few of the more complex comprehension and interpretation tasks, and scenario settings for writing tasks and role-play contexts, are in English, as in the examination. A glossary of standard Spanish rubrics is included to allow the best possible preparation. There is one unit for each of the five "Areas of Experience" in the National Curriculum and the GCSE syllabus. With each unit, all four skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - are covered through tasks which draw on sources and stimuli typical of the GCSE exam. Wherever practical, tasks are allocated marks, with a target mark indicated in each case. The tasks range in difficulty but, taken as a whole, reflect the requirements of the higher grades of GCSE.
The cassette includes the listening comprehension items plus the "examiner's" role in speaking tasks so that role plays can be practised independently.
