Darcie comes into contact with men when her mother remarries. Her thoughts swing between finding her real father and Roman, a stunning young man for whom she would do anything. She becomes anxious to find the male love that has always eluded her and that she knows so little about.
Although Robin's parents are divorced, she leads a happy life, living with her mother and seeing her father on the weekends. But then a lodger named Mary moves in, and Robin's efforts to reunite Mary with her children leads Robin to discover afresh the pain and upheaval caused by divorce.
