Hi, you may have heard about me before. I’m the boy in Elijah’s story. It’s a pretty good one, if I may say so myself. There’s a nasty famine, a bunch of ravens trained in waiter service for the ravenous, and something HUGE happens with a little bit of oil and flour. My mum says we have God to thank for the way things turned out. But I’ll let you find that out for yourself.
Hi, you may have heard about me before. Or maybe you know about my little brother, Moses. I’m Miriam and this is my story. We better whisper … so, there’s a discovery in the river, an Egyptian princess, a big problem with slavery, a few difficult frogs, and a very big army. But my God is bigger! And he gave me a song to sing about all of this, which I can’t wait to share with you!
You may have heard about me before. Well maybe not, but you would have heard of Jesus, right?
My parents had and that’s why we went on a little trip to find Him, but we ended up in a MASSIVE queue of people! And if that big crowd wasn’t enough to stop us, some of Jesus’ friends – very grumpy looking friends – also tried their best to stop me and the other children meeting Jesus.
Anyway, I’m not going to tell you everything that happened, you’ll have to find out … but just so you know, it was worth the wait!

Hi, you may have heard about me before. My story’s pretty brilliant, if I may say so myself. The name’s Samuel by the way and all I wanted was a bit of sleep! But sometimes things wake us up, don’t they? For me, it was this voice calling my name, over and OVER again. Eli and his sons weren’t too happy with me for disturbing their sleep as well. But you won’t believe who the voice turned out to be and what they wanted to say ... so I guess I’ll let you find out for yourself!
You may have heard about me before. Or maybe you’ve heard of my dad, Jairus? Well, this is my story.
It’s quite amazing so you’ll just have to believe me that it’s true! It all started out not looking so good for my family, particularly for me. I wasn’t very well at all … But then my dad heard that Jesus was in town and we thought He could definitely help us out!
So Dad went to find Him and, the rest – you’ll have to find that out for yourself!

International children’s author and storyteller Bob Hartman has written a brand new series, entitled ‘Talking Tales’.
Move aside Noah & Jonah, we’re taking a look at some of the less familiar, but equally important, characters from the Bible. ‘Talking Tales’ is a series of illustrated storybooks looking at the stories of Elijah, Miriam, Elisha and Samuel in a way that is engaging for children and young people.
