Quality in the Constructed Project Vol 1
by American Society of Civil Engineers
Published 1 January 1990
Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice No. 73. Provides suggestions and recommendations to owners, design professionals, constructors and others on principles and procedures which have been effective in providing quality in the constructed project. Throughout the manual, various themes considered to be of particular importance are discussed: the definition and assignment of responsibility the importance of teamwork the importance of concise contractual provisions the principles of good communication the owner's selection process for project team members the procedures for design and construction.
Urban Subsurface Drainage, ASCE Manuals and Reports on Engineering Practice No. 95, was prepared by the Urban Drainage Standards Committee, Water Resources Standards Council, Codes and Standards Activities Committee, and Technical Activities Committee of the American Society of Civil Engineers. This manual provides guidance in the planning, design, construction, and operation and maintenance of urban subsurface drainage systems. Within this framework, the manual discusses such topics as: system configuration including collection system components; hydraulics and hydrology; drain envelopes; loads and pipe behavior; pipe materials; contract documents, codes, and permits; installation methods; and operation and maintenance plan development. Engineers should use this manual of practice as a complement to the three standards (ASCE 12-05, Standard Guidelines for Design of Urban Subsurface Drainage; ASCE 13-05, Standard Guidelines for Installation of Urban Subsurface Drainage; and ASCE 14-05, Standard Guidelines for Operation and Maintenance of Urban Subsurface Drainage) previously developed by the same committee.
Planning and Design Guidelines for Small Craft Harbors
by American Society of Civil Engineers
Published 1 July 1994
In the 25 years which have passed since the ""Report on Small Craft Harbours"" was first published in 1969, marina development has gone through a dramatic transformation. In 1988, the Task Committee on Marinas 2000 was formed for the purpose of updating this report. Since much has been learned about the technical aspects of planning and designing small boat harbours over the past 25 years, this updated report, ""Planning and Design Guidelines for Small Craft Harbours"" (ASCE Manual 50) provides the practicing civil engineer with state-of-the-art guidelines for the planning, design, construction, and financing of small craft harbours. It is organized in four parts. The first section discusses planning and related environmental considerations, and suggests an analytical planning process. The next part covers the protection of small craft mooring facilities and access areas. The third section is concerned with the improved design of inner harbour structures. The last section explores the economics and finance of small board harbours. This revised manual provides a valuable reference to the professional civil engineer by presenting the factors involved in harbour development and by providing basic background information needed as design input.
