Introduction to Measurement Science and Engineering
by P. H. Sydenham and R. Thorn
Published 25 October 1989
This introductory textbook has been designed for students of measurement science. The first section of the book deals with the background and theoretical basis of measurement science, and covers in detail such topics as notation, standards and units, signals and the behaviour of signals in systems, the description of measurement systems as information machines and the mathematical modelling of systems. The second part of the text addresses practical issues and discusses the design, selection and use of a variety of measurement instruments. It examines the handling and processing of information, the design of measurement systems and the selection and testing of instruments.
