A series of stories, each of which is set at a different time in history. The books can be read for the story alone, but they are all full of historical detail and show children what it might have been like to live in that period of history. Tom and Bridget are reluctantly involved in listing the antiques in the attic of Bridgford Hall. When Elinor Bassingbourn steps straight out of a seventeenth-century portrait, Tom and Bridget are terrified, but Elinor is a friendly little girl - and besides, she needs their help. As Tom and Bridget follow Elinor back into her time so begins the most frightening, and exciting, adventure of their lives.
