Published 8 July 1991
From Chamonix to Zermatt, and Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn - in two weeks of mountain travel you will see the greatest collection of 4000 metre peaks in the Alps and visit some of the most spectacular valleys. You will discover delightful villages and remote hamlets, wander flower meadows and forests, skirt exquisite tarns that turn mountains on their heads, and clamber beside glaciers. The way intrudes on lonely stone-filled corries, with marmots along the boulders and ibex on the heights, and provides a surprise around every corner. The route is more than 180 kilometres long. It crosses 11 passes, gains more than 12,000 metres in height and is a strong contender for the title of Most Beautiful Walk in Europe. This new edition has been thoroughly updated, and now includes the exciting two-day Europaweg - a true high-level path that carries the Haute Route way above the Mattertal and into Zermatt - a worthy conclusion to a great trek.

The North Downs Way National Trail is a 130 mile (208km) between the high downland of Farnham and the historic city of Dover on the Kent coast. The route is described in 11 day stages from west to east with an optional detour via Canterbury.

Step-by-step route descriptions are fully illustrated with colour photographs and extracts from OS 1:50,000 mapping for every stage.
The guidebook comes with a separate map booklet of 1:25,000 scale OS maps showing the full route of the North Downs Way. Clear step-by-step route descriptions in the guide link together with the map booklet at each stage along the Way, and the compact format is conveniently sized for slipping into a jacket pocket or the top of a rucksack.

The North Downs Way is one of the easier national trails with a modest number of steep (but short) ascents and descents and long sections with no noticeable height gain or loss. Several historic sites including Neolithic burial chambers, Roman roads and Norman churches are passed and much of the route follows The Pilgrims' Way.

The Parc National Des Ecrins contains some of the most spectacular scenery in the whole Alpine range. Easily accessible by public transport, and with several picturesque valleys in which to make a base, this, the largest national park in France, offers a selection of walks - each one revealing breathtaking views. Kev Reynolds has picked 70 of the best routes from some of the finest valleys for this book. They include a full exploration of the valleys of the Romanche, Guisane, Vallouise, Valgaudemar and Veneon, with clear mapping of each valley.

The Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal is a trekker's dream world. The dramatic beauty of its mountains is legendary, its people among the most warm-hearted, gentle and openly friendly that you could possibly wish to meet. From the lush foothills stepped with immaculate terracing, to the stark upper regions of snow, ice and towering walls of rock, a series of unfolding landscapes impress all who wander through. None who are lured along its trails need fear disappointment. This book is a guide to just one region of this magical land known as Solu-Khumba. Among its sparkling mountains Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Kangtega, Thamserku, Nuptse and Lhotse each present powerful images, as do many others with less familiar names. But it is Mount Everest that naturally provides the magnet for the vast majority of trekkers and all who love the high, wild places. This second edition of the successful Everest guide leads the explorer through Nepal and the Sherpa's homeland. The mountain panoramas and lives of the Nepalese are clearly documented, together with the detailed needs of the trekker in this challenging but most rewarding region.
The second edition includes all information necessary for a successful trek.
