No doubt part of the appeal of Vietnam is the lingering French colonial ambience found in cities like Hanoi and Saigon. But for the adventurous there is another side. A long coastline boasting fine empty beaches and secluded lagoons, lush delta rice fields and the spectacular and verdant countryside of the central highland, where travellers can encounter village life, are the rewards for those who want to discover a more traditional Vietnam.
