Book 1
Raef Skallagrim wants to take the sea road. His ship is fast and sleek, his crew skilled and eager, and they will seek out new lands and win fame in the eyes of the gods. But Raef’s father refuses to allow the journey and when a stranger brings word that the king is dead and a gathering has been called to choose a successor, Raef must set aside his dream for his duty to his ancestral lands and his father.
When factions split at the gathering to choose a successor, Raef finds himself mired in bloodshed and treachery. Forced to make an uneasy alliance with a man he does not trust, Raef must navigate the tides of a war among three kings while seeking revenge for cold-blooded murder.
But winter has come early to Midgard, and even the gods will feel the cold.
Book 2
A frozen lake raged with fire. The Valkyries descended from the stars, shattering the swords and minds of men. And two kings survived the battle of the burning lake. The war for Midgard will carry on. But a war on a much greater scale preys on Raef Skallagrim’s mind.
The rule of the gods is unraveling and soon the giants will unleash their long-festering wrath. Raef, haunted still by the unknown face of his father’s murderer, has forsaken his alliance with Brandulf Hammerling, broken his oath, and looks toward home and his father’s hall. He cannot turn back the shadow of oblivion that will soon descend on the nine realms, but he can find justice for his father before the end.
But Raef’s journey back to Vannheim is interrupted by unseen hands and he is set on a course that will threaten his home and test his will to survive.
And yet his own life will matter little if the gods take everything from him.

Treachery and betrayal have robbed Raef Skallagrim of everything except his life and a dying friend. Forced to flee from his ancestral hall while the man responsible for his father’s murder slips out of reach, Raef is hunted into the wildest corners of Vannheim. If he is to reclaim what he has lost before the gods and giants go to war and unleash destruction on the nine realms, he must forge new bonds and bury his grief for everything that was taken from him.
But as Raef plots retribution against those who betrayed him, the war that has raged across Midgard spills into Vannheim at last, threatening to destroy all he has worked for. The seams of the nine realms begin to tear and Raef will have to face the strength of two kings and the consequences of a broken oath.
And as chaos tightens its grip, as the stars begin to fall from the night sky, the vengeance that has eluded Raef and the fate that is seeking him will collide.
