Work and Unemployment

by J. Horne

Published February 1988
An introduction to the sociology of work as developed by sociologists seeking to understand the process of industrialization in Western Europe. It is particularly concerned to provide a guide to the way sociologists have now broadened the area of focus. It covers such topics as the sociology of housework, leisure and unemployment, as well as paid employment. The series is designed to cover the requirements of A level sociology syllabuses, but should also be of interest to first year undergraduates. Each book contains a selection of reading and documentary extracts, including statistical and quantitative data where relevant, as well as textual analysis.
