There are 56 contributions in RIP 1983. Of the 40 papers and briefs, 23 are experimental reports; the remainder consist of case reports and field studies, review articles, theoretical and methodological papers, and surveys. RIP 1983 also contains a symposium on psi and the nervous system and roundtables on the poltergeist agent, conjurors and parapsychology, and nonlinear thinking about psi. Of special note are the invited addresses by Robert G. Jahn ("On the Representation of Psi Research to the Community of Established Science") and Montague Ullman ("Dreams, Metaphors, and Psi") as well as the presidental address by Stanley Krippner ("A Systems Approach to Psi Research Based on Jungian Typology").
