In conjunction with Passports to Literacy: Texts and Words, they provide a valuable resource for teaching at text, sentence and word level. Sentences 1-4 can also be used independently as part of the broader English curriculum.

Passports to Literacy: Texts 1 is the first of four books for KS2/P4–7 which provide a series of easy to follow literacy hour lesson plans over three terms, based closely on the text-level objectives of the National Literacy Strategy. Linked to a series of poster-format extracts from Cambridge Reading texts, which are ideal for shared reading, the books include group activities (many with photocopiable worksheets), cross-references to Passports to Literacy: Sentences and Words, and an informative introduction on key issues in literacy hour teaching.
