Based on "The Visitor's Guide to the Peak District", this title has now been updated and enlarged. It is a practical guide for visitors to the Peak. The book covers the geographical area rather than just the National Park (now the second most visited park in the world). It gives a full description of the area, plus details on all the attractions for visitors. Additional chapters are included for the first time on: nature reserves; archaeology; tourist management and conservation; and top-ten walks and scenic motor routes. The description of many items has been extended to provide comprehensive details. Feature boxes detail, for example, well dressing, industrial archaeology and stone walls. The "Landmark FactFile" section is a comprehensive listing of essential information. It includes accommodation, public transport options, other nearby attractions outside the area, a list of all national park picnic sites and fishing facilities.
