RNLI Book of the Sea

by Nicola Baxter

Published 29 April 1993
This book explores the work of the lifeboatmen and women of the RNLI who put their lives at risk - whatever the weather and whatever the danger - to rescue other people in trouble at sea. The reader can find out how lifeboats are launched and recovered; discover the difference between an inflatable and all-weather lifeboat; read about some thrilling rescues which have taken place and meet the team members - both on the boats and ashore - who make it possible for the RNLI to answer nearly 5000 calls for help a year. The junior group of the RNLI, Storm Force, has a membership in excess of 20,000.
