Book 1

Goodknyght!

by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore

Published 6 August 2001

Comedy fantasy series with a Pratchetteque/Carry On Blackadder twist, but written for children. A slightly more sophisticated read than the Lost Diaries, with a bit more edge.

The Dark Forest is a world. Cities, towns and villages exist like islands in a green sea, while in the Forest itself live hermits, wizards and all manner of weird and wonderful creatures – some invented, some strangely familiar.

BOOK 1: GOODKNYGHT
The story of Will, swineherd and whipping-boy to the ghastly Symon, who constantly reminds him of the awful time he’s going to have when he accompanies Symon to Knyghtschool. Fate lends a hand, when Will instead finds himself on a quest with the mysterious Rune-master, to recover the lost treasure of the Dark Forest – a quest which is far more dangerous! Involving a Runemaster and a lost treasure… (Oh yes, and sometimes he has to wear a dress, too.)

Be amused. Be very amused…

Book 4

Knyghtmare

by Steve Barlow and Steve Skidmore

Published 2 August 2004

Another exciting, crazy and hilarious adventure set in the arboreal depths of the Dark Forest.

A welcome return for some familiar faces caught up in a new adventure.
Will and Rose, who roam the Dark Forest freely, are used to its quirks and hidden tricksiness. Yet, when they both wake up shaken from an identical dream – about a Knyght in black armour on a fire-breathing steed – they both know that something seriously scary is happening!

Once again, the team of Will, Rose, Humfrey, the Runemaster and the pessimistic, mouthy Harp of Kings team up for a “shpectacular and riotoush romp in fantashyland”.
