The pack contains one copy each of 10 colour posters featuring key words and definitions from the major Key Stages 3 and 4 curriculum areas. Each poster can be used for literacy work and building students' vocabulary. Each poster will feature the key words, plus definitions, from 10 major subjects listed below (all these words and definitions will also feature in Word Bank): 1. English 2. Combined Science 3. Maths 4. Modern Languages (French and German ) 5. Design and Technology 6. Geography 7. History 9. Religious Studies 10. PSHE/Citizenship

The photocopiable teaching resources support the Word Bank introductory dictionary for Key Stages 3 and 4 students with special needs. They contain accessible, motivating activities aimed at developing students’ dictionary skills and improving their literacy.

The pack consists of around 40 photocopiable worksheets, preceded by 8 pages of prelims, notes for the teacher, answers to activities etc. Each sheet will focus clearly on one topic. Literacy skills covered will include:
• What a dictionary is for
• How to find words
• The alphabet
• Using vocabulary
• Comprehension
• Using a dictionary across the curriculum
• Key words in each subject.
