Lines on the Underground
7 total works
All 270 stations on the 11 lines of London's Underground map, spread across 630 square miles of the city and its suburbs, have their own story to tell. Drawing on writings about London dating from Chaucer to the 1990s, this pocket anthology of prose and poetry shows the Circle Line passing through London in a rich and varied way. The Circle Line, from King's Cross via Liverpool Street and Paddington back to King's Cross, is here accompanied by the writings of Iris Murdoch, John Mortimer, Susan Hill, Oscar Wilde, E.M. Forster, H.G. Wells, Arthur Conan Doyle, Samuel Pepys and many more.
