Practical Gardening S.

Practical information on creating an herb garden of any size, as well as on harvesting, preserving, and storing them for later use. An alphabetical descriptive list makes it easy to choose which herbs to plant. Each entry includes both common and botanical names, a description, its uses, history, and cultivation information. Recipes are given for using herbs in everything from appetizers, drinks, and sauces to main courses, side dishes, and desserts. Various health and beauty applications are also included.
Organic gardening means growing plants without resorting to inorganic chemicals such as are found in most pesticides, weedkillers or fertilisers. The benefits are many; for example, vegetables and fruit will not be contaminated or tainted by chemicals; wild life such as beneficial insects, birds and mammals will prosper as they are not killed off; wild flowers will flourish instead of being eliminated by the all-purpose weedkiller.
