Book 7
This book presents the findings of an extensive study of the Gulf War. The war cost lives of somewhere around 100,000 Iraqi troops, 5,000 civilians and 500 members of the coalition forces. What image of the war did television present to the British public, and what did the British public think of the the war and the images that they saw? Based on a lengthy questionnaire to a nationally representative sample of viewers, a questionnaire to a national sample of children, group discussions with adult viewers, group discussions with children, and a content analysis of the main evening news programmes, the book sets out to answer these questions and more.
