Published 24 October 1996
Pocket-sized full-colour guide describing car tours and picnic places throughout the Algarve. But the major part of the book is devoted to walks for all ages and abilities, all illustrated with 1:50,000 topographical walking maps (which also show the route of the Algarve Way - a long-distance trail running from the border with Spain to the west coast). There is a fold-out touring map for motorists, which also locates the various walking areas and the entire Algarve Way. Timetables are given for local transport. The Algarve is a wonderful walking destination almost all year round, with its magnificent coastal scenery and lesser-known uplands. The book was thoroughly revised just prior to publication of this edition. The 'Landscapes' series, with 50 destinations, has been dubbed 'the blue Bibles' by the Sunday Times; Sunflower has been named a Which? Recommended Provider of Guidebooks.
