GCSE English

by Ian Barr and Chris Walton

Published January 1995
One of a series which provides questions from past exam papers as well as new questions set by actual GCSE examiners. The authors who are all either Chief Examiners or Examiners, have prepared answers and a full mark scheme for each of the questions. They also include their tips on what the examiner is looking for and how to avoid the most commonly made mistakes. Questions are divided into topics with a brief revision summary for each topic, and all the answers are at the back of the book, thus encouraging the student to attempt the questions before referring to the answers. Each book has a general introduction which includes advice on revision and exam technique as well as outlining the types of question likely to be faced. The series is suitable for all GCSE boards and Scottish Standard papers, and is a recommended complement to "Letts GCSE Study Guides".

Presenting selected questions from recent GCSE English exams, as well as questions written especially by experienced GCSE examiners, this is one of a series designed to improve exam technique and performance. Worked answers are provided, together with examiner's tips which show how to achieve good marks and avoid common mistakes. Mark schemes and revision summaries are also included.
