The "Foundation History" series provides simplified versions of the five Core Study Units for use with less able pupils at Key Stage 3. In each full-colour book, the text, written sources and questions have been reduced and simplified to meet the needs of lower ability pupils. Otherwise, the books follow the same structure as their counterparts in the "Heinemann History Study Units" series, allowing both series to be used together for a wide range of abilities. This book charts Britain's growth as an industrial nation and the effect this growth had on the British Empire. It also documents the social and economic upheaval caused by these changes from which our modern parliamentary democracy emerged.
