Southern African Trees

by Piet Van Wyk

Published 26 October 1993
This book presents approximately 250 of southern Africa's most commonly seen trees in a succinct and easily accessible way. Clear colour photographs, from the author's own collection, show the trees as they are most typically seen; and, if they provide useful identification criteria, are supplemented by photographs of the flowers, fruit, leaves and/or bark of the tree. Thumbnail silhouettes of leaf shapes are used to lead the reader to the most likely group or family of trees and thus eliminate some of the confusion that arises in trying to identify trees to species' level. Distribution maps pinpoint the areas in which the trees occur.
