Lesson Starters for Interactive Whiteboards

This is the third in a series of seven CD-ROMs containing ten-minute literacy starter activities for whole-class or group teaching, specifically designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard. Each CD contains 24 activities linked to the teaching objectives of the National Literacy Strategy. There is a mixture of word-level activities, sentence-level activities and text-level activities. High-quality animation, music and sound effects are designed to grab children's attention and get them switched on. The level of difficulty can be varied for some activities. Also included is a selection of twenty-four Developing Literacy photocopiable activity sheets, which are related to the interactive activities. The worksheets are supplied in PDF format - free for teachers to print out and use.

This activity book for Year R Literacy Hour is one of a series covering the sentence-level objectives in the National Literacy Strategy framework for teaching from Year R to Year 6. It is photocopiable and aims to develop children's grammatical awareness; includes activities which focus on sentence construction; the roles of different kinds of words and punctuation; promotes independent work; has extension activities which reinforce and develop what the children have learned and includes notes for teachers.
