The girls in Team Starlight learn spells and earn their stars in this magical new young fiction series!
Welcome to Stargirl Academy, the magical school in the clouds! Previously a rather old-fashioned establishment, it has been reopened by its head teacher to train children to be modern day fairy godmothers. Fairy Mary McBee selects a group of girls: Lily, Ava, Madison, Sophie, Emma, Olivia – and Melody and Jackson who think they're better than everyone else. The girls learn lots of spells – shimmering, starry, shining, sparkling, glittering and twinkling ones – which they use to fix problems and help people in trouble. For every successful mission they gain a star, and once they have six stars they will be fully qualified stargirls! Ava leads the first mission and decides they should teach Lily's horrible great aunt a lesson. With a new spell the girls convince Great Aunt Acidity that supernatural forces are angry with her: floating crockery and a message written by a teapot make her change her ways. It's a triumph – they've earned their first star!

It's Lily's turn to lead a mission but she hands over to Ava who is worried about her lovely local cafe. Cafe Blush is losing customers to a new place down the road and faces closure. The Stargirls investigate the new cafe and find it's a sham – what's more, the kitchen is disgusting! With a nifty sparkling spell, the girls expose the owners' sloppy standards and everyone returns to Cafe Blush! Another successful mission – and another star!
A Stargirl Academy Christmas Special with a longer extent and extra sparkle!
Following on from the first six Stargirl Academy stories which publish July 2013, this glittery Christmas special is narrated by the Academy's two unruly girls, Melody and Jackson. The girls take it in turns to tell their story, with many interruptions and disagreements along the way! Determined to get their final star and become fully qualified Stargirls, they set about mastering the growing/shrinking spell. But during their Stargirl mission - to help save Christmas for a family without much money – they realise they've made a mistake and that the person who really needs cheering up is a young girl who seems to have everything. With the help of their friends in Team Starlight, they succeed in making her happier, along with everyone else at the Cuckoo Clock Grotto in their local shopping centre.

The other girls are desperate to do something for Sophie's little brother who has nowhere to play since the local park has been shut down. Jackson isn't having any of it, but by chance her mum's boss is at the heart of the problem. Everyone is happy when he gets his comeuppance thanks to Sophie's shining spell. The girls have earned their third star!

Emma leads the fifth mission: she wants to help a family who have moved in two doors down – the baby cries all night and the older children can't play in the garden because it's overgrown. Mr Appleby would be the perfect person to help as his immaculate garden is right next door, but he's been complaining about the noise. Melody and Jackson perform some very risky magic and, against his will, Mr Appleby finds himself mowing the noisy neighbours' lawn! Thanks to Emma's skilful glittering spell and Mr Appleby's good nature, all is well, but Fairy Mary is furious with Melody and Jackson and they don't receive a star. The other girls however, are rewarded – only one more to go!
