She decides to while away the hours by sleeping, but getting a good night’s rest turns out to be a lot of work! She begins by fashioning a DIY pillow out of the fur of her Teddy Demon guards and an “air mattress” from the magical Shield of the Wind. The princess’s hapless demonic guards soon discover that their captive expects to be treated like, well, a princess. Things go from bad to worse—for her captors—when some of Princess Syalis’s schemes end in her untimely—if temporary—demise and she chooses the Forbidden Grimoire for her bedtime reading…

While waiting to be rescued, Princess Syalis makes herself at home by commandeering a bathtub, befriending (sort of) a cute demon girl and participating in a castle fitness challenge. Her plots to get some shut-eye include stealing ice from Ice Demons to cool off on a hot summer night, attempting to make her own waterbed, toying with magic spells and provoking an enchanted flower into releasing a soporific. And then the nightmares begin…

Winter has come, and Princess Syalis will do anything to stay warm, including creating a DIY magical device (known as a “Ko-tatsu”), knitting woolen underwear and trying to convince the castle blacksmith to make her a window to keep out the drafts. When she accidentally dies yet again—along with Stamper Cat—curious resurrection complications ensue. Then it’s Christmas and New Year’s! Who will the Demon King designate as naughty or nice? And will all of the other demons let poor Syalis join in any demon games…? And now the Demon King has insomnia!

Now how can she put a stop to the Teddy Demons summoning her every time they get into a kerfluffle…? Then the princess gets kidnapped from her kidnappers!

And then it’s time for the castle’s Hostage Reeducation Week… Plus, a visit to demon preschool!

Accompanied by an entourage of demon guards, Princess Syalis takes a field trip to the human world to acquire a special pillow. Then she receives several invitations from her demon captors: First, to replace the cooks who have succumbed to heat exhaustion in the Demon Castle kitchen (somebody needs to make Quilladillo’s Monster Bird Egg Custard). Second, to attend a pajama party (despite being woefully ignorant of the concept). And third, to design a new area for the hero to explore (which turns out to be the exact opposite of what the demons had in mind).

Princess Syalis manages to mess up Christmas and Valentine’s Day…again. Then, when Syalis and her demon captors pay a visit to her kingdom of Goodereste, a demon stands in for the princess…and winds up needing to be kidnapped herself! A common enemy forces Syalis and her archnemesis Poseidon to team up. And Syalis messes up more things, including a Demon Castle hot pot party and a Demon King educational biopic. But she still manages to find some good opportunities for relaxing naps…

Then, when the newly hired demon staff arrive for their orientation at the Demon Castle—complete with a hot springs retreat!—the current staff are loath to admit that they’ve lost control of their hostage. What will happen when the newbies discover that the “Scissors Demon” is actually a terrifying, bratty human girl?!

And then the princess must operate the mecha in battle against the hero Dawner, who is determined to "rescue" her from her beloved new home. Then, an integral member of the Demon Castle staff resigns and heads for home…with the rest of the demons and one human in hot pursuit!

When things seem too peaceful in the Demon Castle, the demons investigate and find the princess in a literal bind. Having stolen a gizmo to create alternate dimensions, Princess Syalis uses it to do good in the world. Just kidding! Of course she uses it for her own (and the Teddy Demons’) selfish gain. Then, a lightning storm reveals one demon is (predictably) even more frightened of thunder than the princess. Quilladillo goes home for vacation only to discover he has a stowaway in his trunk, but it’s not the princess. Just kidding! Of course it is. And then a relative of the princess appears at the castle! What are the demon hostage takers to do…?!

A secretly filmed video of life at the Demon Castle embarrasses its occupants. Agave finally confronts her demons—or rather, the Demon King. Then, when Princess Syalis messes with a magical spinning wheel, it’s Poseidon who takes the hit. To rescue the god of the sea, the princess must embark on a deep dive into the history of the spell and…her own family?! Plus, Twilight’s first love revealed! Sort of.

This time it’s the princess who gets shrunk to the size of a child, and with dire consequences…instigated by her, naturally. The mystery of why the Ten Guardians number only nine individuals is investigated…with mixed results. The search for a spy in the castle ends in…confusion. But at least the story of Demon Cleric’s transformation into a gentler, kinder demon is clarified. Plus, hypnosis, hot pot, and Midnight’s hound!

Meanwhile, Silmoth brings some much-needed experience and dignity back to the Ten Guardians—right up until the princess enters the scene. Then, the residents of the Demon Castle discover the power of partying and Twilight is forced to decide whether a personal invitation to the Wild Avian Hotel is a deadly trap or a fun-filled opportunity. There’s also puppies powering up, popularity polls, and pugnacious plants!

Alraune’s showdown with the hero’s party is brought to an explosive end. Poseidon throws a fit when the construction of the gate between the castles is interrupted—again. Demon Cleric is definitely not at all jealous about the princess hanging out with Hypnos. Twilight and Hades both shrink shamefully after duking it out. And the princess dies again—but this time Demon Cleric can’t bring her back, demanding an impromptu trip to the Underworld and a shocking family reunion!
