When west Texas pioneer Jeremiah Stone is murdered the escape of his killers is witnessed by his daughter Cynthia, newly returned to Rio City after completing her education out east. The Texas Rangers are implored to send lawmen to hunt down the murderers. However, the only man available is young Ranger Tom Howard, who volunteers to go undercover in Rio City on a one-man mission. But he soon finds that only hot lead can prevent a full-scale range war, with him at the epicentre.
