Images of Cornish Tin

by Alan Stoyel and Peter Williams

Published 21 November 2001
Published in association with English Heritage National Monuments Record, this is an evocative portrait using some 260 or so illustrations of the industry, including the last tin mine in Europe, South Crofty. It draws on a diverse group of images including copies of Victorian paintings from galleries across the country; to remains in situ; relics preserved in museums and elsewhere; historic views of South Crofty - both on the surface and below ground - and much more. This is not a book of old photographs, it is a vivid portrayal in full colour of an industry synonymous with the Cornish landscape itself.
