Twelve year-old Jody Delaney is off on the adventure of a lifetime! Her marine biologist parents are completing the last part of a special project - Planet Dolphin. For practical research, the Delaney family need to spend three months at sea, travelling from their home in Florida to Perth in Australia. Jody plans to record every movement in her diary, and by email - telling her friends all about the journey and the wonderful dolphins she's going to meet . . .
It's the first night at sea, and there are a few teething problems on board the family's boat. A violent storm throws Jody overboard and, struggling to keep afloat, she fears for her life. A lost dolphin comes to her rescue, and the next day, a grateful Jody swims with the hero dolphin, and helps him find his way back home to his pod . . .

The McGraths have sailed on from the Marquesas - where we last heard from Jody - and their next port of call is Hervey Bay on the coast of Queensland! Jody and her family are all looking forward to seeing land again, and to spotting some of the many types of dolphin who swim in the waters off the bay. Jody's twin brothers are excited about the other marine life too: dugongs, rays, turtles and seabirds - Hervey Bay has something for everyone!
Based at a place called Ocean Point. Jody's parents are thrilled to see the dolphin sanctuary there - where the dolphins come and go as they want. Jody forms a special friendship with an Indo-Pacific dolphin called Mercury. But out on a coastal walk, she spots another tourist operation 'Golden Sands' - billed to be like Ocean Point, but clearly not meeting the same rigid safety regulations. There's litter everywhere, and tourists are encouraged to wade through water to feed the dolphins - which Jody knows only too well leads to disease, and sometimes death among the poor creatures! Only when Mercury contracts pneumonia do the authorities take any notice, though, and only with Jody's help, do they put Golden Sands out of business, for good . . .
Book 8
Jody and her family have arrived in the Bahamas. Here they'll get the chance to visit Little Bahama Bank - a dolphin study group run by friends of Craig and Gina. Jody can't wait to see some Atlantic spotted dolphins - even go swimming with them if she can. But a party of rowdy teenagers have docked near Dolphin Dreamer, and Brittany is intent on befriending them - much to everyone's disapproval! But then Jody hears the rumours about a sunken treasure ship nearby that has never been found. Whoever does find the long-lost Elvira will find centuries-old treasure and a small fortune! Jody wonders whether she and the rest of the crew of Dolphin Dreamer could be the ones to succeed. The trouble is, a certain obnoxious gang are wondering the very same thing . . .
Under the Stars
Still in the Bahamas, Dolphin Dreamer has been diverted off course by a phone call - inviting the crew to help at the births of three baby dolphins. Jody is delighted - this is the experience of a lifetime for her! Arriving at Dolphin Haven, Jody and her family, along with Brittany, meet Dan and Alicia Summers, whose three expectant dolphin mums - Bella, Misty and Evie - are nearly ready to give birth. But there are complications ahead - Evie has been pregnant several times before, and her calves have never lived. This is Evie's last chance to finally become a mum, and everyone is worried that something will go wrong again. Jody's not sure she can bear to see Evie losing her baby - but she's going to be there for her, whatever happens . . .
