This book helps to fill a sizeable gap in published work on passenger road transport in the North Staffordshire area during the 20th Century. This will be done using mostly unpublished photographs together with detailed captions to appeal to lay readers, local historians and enthusiasts of bus history. Of special interest to the enthusiasts there will be detailed descriptions of the vehicles. And as a bonus for local historians the images also portray street scenes in the area which have changed significantly in many cases. Whilst the predominant operator in the area was the Potteries Motor Traction Company, its antecedents and successors, also includes the independent operators of the area, several of which are nationally known. Indeed, since deregulation, the smaller operators have brightened the local bus scene with their colourful, non-corporate liveries.
