With a GBP100 million investment going into the Trentham Estate and GBP10 million into a new Wedgwood Museum, Staffordshire is enhancing its value as a tourist destination. A considerable amount of the Peak District is also in the county and in addition there are many other favourites such as Biddulph Grange Garden. Staffordshire has much to offer as a tourist destination and this book brings together the best of them. The author is a Staffordshire lad and was surprised by the number of 'little gems' the county has to offer. With this colour, itinerary based guide visitors will be able to prepare for their holiday with an extensive briefing on all aspects of Staffordshire. The comprehensive factfile includes information on how to get there, main attractions, local amenities and other essentials. It includes the author's top tips and recommendations.

Gives a brief outline of Scotland's main islands, including attractions, places to visit and how to get there. Details of accommodation are given for the smaller islands, where it exists. Some 70 islands are included plus a few which now have no permanent residents. This book portrays a different kind of Britain; characterised mostly by peace and quiet, except for the noise of large seabird populations; where wild flowers hold sway each Spring and where, in most cases, life really is different. It is a full colour guide, with numerous maps.

Based on "The Visitor's Guide to the Peak District", this title has now been updated and enlarged. It is a practical guide for visitors to the Peak. The book covers the geographical area rather than just the National Park (now the second most visited park in the world). It gives a full description of the area, plus details on all the attractions for visitors. Additional chapters are included for the first time on: nature reserves; archaeology; tourist management and conservation; and top-ten walks and scenic motor routes. The description of many items has been extended to provide comprehensive details. Feature boxes detail, for example, well dressing, industrial archaeology and stone walls. The "Landmark FactFile" section is a comprehensive listing of essential information. It includes accommodation, public transport options, other nearby attractions outside the area, a list of all national park picnic sites and fishing facilities.
