It’s Christmastime in Pens’ town and something special is about to happen. Sharpy’s friends are busy getting ready, but he’s not sure what for! He wonders why Max and Denzil are worrying about costumes, why Marco’s making wings, why Gloria is learning lines and why Philippa is fussing about rehearsals.

Then Sharpy discovers he has a part to play too … The Pens characters are planning to put on a Nativity play to celebrate a very special birthday -- Jesus’ birthday! In all the excitement, Sharpy learns what Christmas is all about as Pens act out the true story of God sending His Son into the world so that we could know what God is like and become friends with Him.
This short story is followed by five days of Bible readings, thoughts and prayers, based on the birth of Jesus, to help young children discover the meaning of Christmas.

Squiggle and Splodge, the youngest of the Pens characters, are due to start school and Splodge is nervous, and is hiding under the bed covers.

With the encouragement of the other Pens, especially Charlotte, who explains that God, their SPECIAL FRIEND, will go with them to school and will help them not to be scared, Splodge finds the courage to go – and has a wonderful day.

Three new characters are introduced – the teacher, Miss Fountain Pen, and two new pupils, Rowena Rollerball and Henry Highlighter, who are both starting school on the same day as Squiggle and Splodge.

This Pens story concludes with five days of Bible readings based on the story of David and Goliath.

Denzil's worried because his beautiful garden seems to have died, but spring is just around the corner ... As he learns about God bringing new life, he discovers the importance of Jesus' death and resurrection at Easter.

This Pens story concludes with seven days of Bible readings based on the Easter story, to help young children understand the true meaning of Easter.
