Line ilustrations throughout the books are full of historical detail and humour. Large scenes and diagrams add extra information where appropriate. In EARL INKBLOT'S BIG NIGHT, Earl Inkblot is putting on a play to impress the Queen. Unfortunately, the young boy set to play the heroine is ill and old ugly Earl Inkblot has to put a frock on and take on the role. The Queen hasn't had such a good time since Lord Roderick married his horse.
