Since David Evan's pioneering book of old photographs of Dursley and Cam in 1981 there have been three subsequent publications, each one quarrying a mine of fascinating photographs. This book is also pioneering as it brings the publication of old photographs into the twenty-first century by its richness of production and by its introduction of colour. Ninety-four classic old photographs - some never ever published before -are produced in an attractive sepia tone, accompanied by a modern colour photograph with an accompanying caption. The book focuses on the changing scene and the transformation from an industrial town with a large diesel engine manufacturing company, to a postindustrial dormitory town nestling in one of the most beautiful valleys in England.
