These resources for GNVQ science have been developed by the "Nuffield Science in Practice" project to meet the requirements of all the awarding bodies. The project has forged contacts with industry, medicine and other sectors where people use science in their work to ensure the authentic vocational contexts and approaches required for GNVQ. The project was set up in 1992 to develop new ways of teaching vocational science based on active learning. It has worked to produce material in close collaboration with pilot schools and colleges, so the finished materials can meet the needs of students and staff following the courses. This assignments pack provides material for students to base their portfolio of work on at the end of their GNVQ course. The assignments, all placed within a realistic vocational context, offer a variety of activities, including data collection, fieldwork and surveys as well as lab work and practical techniques.
