Three of the six are magic key stories in which the children meet a princess, who can't laugh, a thieving magpie, and Father Christmas. The three remaining stories feature a drunken carthorse, a ghost-sighting at Gran's house, and champion go-kart 'Silver Bullet'.

The CD contains each of the six trunk stories, with additional activities for word, sentence, and text level work relating to each book. These activities have been carefully structured to support the National Literacy Strategy.
