In 2014, Joshua Wong took on a leadership role during pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong that became known as the Umbrella Movement. Although he promoted peaceful protest, Joshua was jailed for his participation. Undiscouraged, he continues to advocate for full and free elections in Hong Kong. The subject of two documentaries, Joshua's efforts have also been recognized with many awards including TIME magazine’s 25 Most Influential Teens.
