Sermons on the Second Readings (Series II)
by John T Ball, Richard E Gribble, John B Jamison, Clayton A Lord, Jr, and REV Donna Schaper
The sermons of Charles Haddon Spurgeon were the pinnacle of preaching in mid-nineteenth-century England. They are still powerful and widely influential today. This five-volume set is a compilation of Spurgeon's best sermons, covering topics from Israel in Egypt and confession of sin to justification by grace and Paul's first prayer. Originally published in ten volumes in 1883, this collection was printed in five volumes by Baker in 1996 and is now back in print.
This text provides practical teaching ideas for all-age worship services, with a huge variety of creative suggestions to help expound the word of God. The series is planned to carry forward the successful approach used in "The Sermon Slot" to the Common Worship lectionary, and offers a particularly valuable resource now that Sunday readings are no longer themed, as they were with the ASB lectionary. The text is illustrated with icons and drawings.
