Romance Schmomance
Written on Apr 18, 2013
When it comes to reading romance/new adult books, I like to say that I've read all sorts of genres within the romance category. I do my best not to have any expectations when it comes to what I read. I simply read it as if I've never heard about it before and take it one moment at a time. And I'm happy to say that I loved this book very much! I'm such a fan of stories that involve broken lives, and somehow through all the darkness, they're able to let themselves love again. Those stories really put on my heart and that's exactly what this book did.
I was hooked into this right from the get go, which are the books that I can never put down. Nacole did an amazing job, with making everything flow together so smoothly. Every introduction to every event transitioned into each other rather perfectly. Haley Martin has lived the life that is simply unimaginable, unable to deal with the loss of her entire family, she packs up and heads across the country to seek new beginnings.
Not paying attention, I run straight into a hard chest. My eyes slowly take in the man standing in front of me. "Excuse me miss," the gorgeous blond haired, blue-eyed gift from God says as he brushes by me without a second glance. If all men in this town look like him, I am going to love it here.
After the loss of her family, Haley dealt with it in a way that no one would ever be proud of. After some realization, she desperately needed a new start and hoped to get that at her new school in a new town. The moment that she literally ran into the Kyler King, her life had changed from that moment on. Having this constant pull towards him, she couldn't stop herself from following that pull.
I'm standing face to face with the blue-eyed god from the admin office I saw earlier today. Once again I'm speechless. Our eyes lock and I feel something I haven't felt in a very long time : lust.
Kyler is definitely a beautiful creature! I absolutely love Haley & Kyler's relationship, right from the beginning. Despite hearing the rumors, Haley found it hard to stay away from Kyler, which led them into a little "friends with benefit" situation, well it's safe to say that didn't last very long. They both have dark histories, which unravels throughout the book. You get to see the hardships they've gone through and how they've dealt/still dealing with it. It's just not easy to get over something that deeply wounded the both of them.
I know I've said that I try not to have any expectations, but as I kept reading this book, it was hard not to do so. I was constantly waiting for something to happen, this book will definitely throw you threw a series of emotional ups & downs. I read this book during my flight from Hawai'i to Washington State. Lets just say, I tried hard to keep the tears at bay.
You will see the the darkness they both suffer, breaking down walls and learning to let love in again. It wasn't easy, but as you read, you take the ride along with them.
I definitely loved this book and can't wait for everyone to read it!
