I have to point out a few things that I left inside my head to fester for a little, because I wasn't sure if I wanted to be negative about them, but I feel like my opinion hasn't changed towards a more positive outlook. To get this out of the way: I still enjoyed this book and I finished in one sitting - Freida McFadden has been that kind of reading for me, for some reason.
I must admit I felt cheated: I was entertained throughout, but a lot of time is spent building up this red herring, to the point that when the reveal came, I was like, "Oh, OK! That's not what I was expecting", and I now realize it must've been disappointment, because the book's foreshadowing of its actual twists felt like huge copouts.
STILL! The author is doing something right because I gobbled this book until I reached the end. I will read more by her. Liked The Housemaid better, though, no doubt about it.
