A compilation of blogs charting Julie Hay's Transactional Analysis ideas and publications from 1986 to present day (2020).
From October 2017 until May 2019, Julie Hay published a series of 77 blogs that tracked how she had been developing her TA ideas - including several that have now become well known: the competence curve, steps to success, windows on the world, internal and behavioural ego states, working styles, sailship success, the assessing cube (AP3) and leadership styles.
The blogs also incorporate material about contracting, supervision, group processes, and how to distinguish between the different ways in which TA is applied professionally. Julie Hay is qualified to the Teaching & Supervising Transactional Analyst level in all four of the recognised fields of application - Counselling, Organisational, Psychotherapy and Educational. She is the originator of the Developmental TA approach, which takes a positive psychology approach and emphasises the similarities of the non-psychotherapy applications. At the same time, many of the ways in which Julie simplifies complex TA concepts are invaluable to psychotherapists who want to operate in the way that Eric Berne suggested - teach the theories to the clients and then help them apply those models to themselves. Julie's models have been tried and tested during her experience within organisations as trainer, coach, consultant, manager; as an organisational consultant working on change management, team working, assessment/development centres and coach/mentoring schemes; in private practice as a coach, counsellor, therapist; as a psychotherapist within high security prisons; as a professional supervisor of other coaches, counsellors, psychotherapists, educators and other practitioners; whilst offering advanced TA training and supervision in over 40 countries; and within a number of different voluntary roles within professional associations.
