I Married a Birdman is a fated mate and marriage of convenience Sci-Fi Romance between Serena, a human doctor, and Dakas, a Zelconian-human hybrid. Serena's village is under attack and they don't have the technology to fight back as their founders wanted a tech free life to focus on human interactions rather than screens. She goes to the Zelconians for help, but they're not eager to get involved, until Dakas sets his eyes on Serena and his soul calls out to her. Things happen, a speedy wedding occurs, and Kayog returns to play fairy godmother as he bestows all of the tech Serena's village needs to fight as her "dowry." I adore Kayog and his sneaky plans to get around galatic law!
I really enjoyed I Married a Birdman. This is one is a bit more plot focused than the previous two books. There's the war between the humans and the Yurus, plus the younger generation of humans wanting to make their own way, rather than following their parents and grandparents no-tech ways. The romance is definitely still the center and it's super cute, no surprise there. Dakas loves to tease Serena which is so sweet to read. I also liked how their soulmate status didn't take away from true relationship development. There's a choice there since they each have to accept the other to finish the bond. Obviously, they do, because duh. It just made me happy.
