Quirky Cat
Summary:
You know how the story goes. A high school girl wakes up to a new life – quite literally, for she's been reborn as Catarina Claes, a villainess and spoiled daughter of a duke. In other words, a big pain in the butt.
It's just one kidnapping after another, at least for those around Catarina Claes. This time it isn't our lovely protagonist who has gone missing – but her adoring brother. Catarina will stop at nothing to find out what has happened to him.
Review:
Sadly, I'm almost at the end of my binge-reading for My Next Life as a Villainess. I might go onto the light novels next – what does everyone think of them?
It's interesting how this volume can be so different yet have such similarities with past plots. I think we're now at three kidnappings in a row? Yet they're all for different reasons and targeting different characters. Go figure. Some readers probably don't love the repetition, but it fits the series.
As usual, Catarina desperately does what she can to care for the people around her – while oblivious to the truth. In this instance, she's missing hints about how the other characters feel about her. She's also listening to her mother's bad/hurtful advice, which is frustrating to see.
There are some happier moments/hints to help balance out the somber tone of My Next Life as a Villainess Vol. 7. That said, I have to admit that I find the path they're going down quite interesting. I hope we can (someday) see how Catarina finds a place for herself to investigate magical crimes and the like.
