Now included with Choosing Health, MasteringHealth (TM) is an online homework, tutorial, and assessment product designed to improve results by helping students quickly master concepts. Students benefit from self-paced tutorials that feature immediate wrong-answer feedback and hints that emulate the office-hour experience to help keep students on track and prepared for lecture.
* Health Online: All the Health Online features in the chapter will be available here, as well as links to all the online features included in the other sections of the site, including videos, mobile tools, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. It's the one-stop shop where students can find everything online related to the chapter they're studying.
* Read It: In addition to a link to the Choosing Health Twitter feed and chapter objectives that direct student learning, this section of MasteringHealth contains the Pearson eText, a full-featured electronic book. Pearson eText is laid out just like the book, so it is easy and engaging for your students to read, but it also allows them to create notes, highlight text in different colors, create bookmarks, zoom, click hyperlinked words and phrases to view definitions, and view ABC News Videos or visit a website as they read the text. Also available in this section are chapter-specific RSS feeds.
* See It: Student-generated videos for every chapter make health issues even more relevant. Links to the Choosing Health YouTube channel allow students to see the videos others have just submitted or to submit their own. Additionally, students can't help but learn when they watch the more than 50 ABC News videos, each 5-10 minutes long, about important health topics.
* Hear It: MP3 tutor sessions explain the big picture concepts for each chapter and new audio case studies encourage students to think about real life health choices.
* Do It: A link to the Choosing Health Facebook page allows students to interact with other users of the text, find study tools, and receive health tips via status updates. Also in this section are author Barry Elmore's video answers to important health questions asked by students in the Ask the Expert section. Also available are additional online tools, mobile-phone versions of the Choose To...cards, and applications for mobile phones that will help students stay healthy on the go.
* Review It: An online glossary, flashcards for cell phones, crossword puzzles, and a 25-question quiz for each chapter mean your students will always be ready at exam time.
* Live It: This electronic toolkit helps jumpstart your students' behavior change project. Electronic versions of every Self-Assessment and Behavior Change Workshop from the book plus additional Take Charge of Your Health! worksheets help your students target the health behaviors they wish to change. The section guides students through planning for change, creating a behavior change contract, journaling and logging their behaviors as they implement change, and preparing a reflection piece to aid in behavior change evaluation. This section also provides a link where students can share their stories, videos, or Ask the Expert questions.
