The Mara Triangle is the western third of the world-famous Masai Mara, one of the greatest concentrations of large wild mammals on Earth, and itself the northern extension of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. The Mara Triangle is literally a triangle of about 500 square kilometres lying between the Mara River to the east, the 400 m Oloololo Escarpment to the west, and the border with the Serengeti Plains and Tanzania to the south. Masai Mara is not a national park, but is designated as "The Masai Mara National Reserve". Side one of The Mara Triangle Visitor's Map features a map of the area, laid out on a scale of 1.5 cm per kilometre, indicating main roads, graded tracks and other routes. Visitors will especially appreciate the inclusion of the major river crossing points along the Mara River, which are the focus of the dramatic annual wildebeest and zebra migration. This map also features the Mara Conservancy classified system for campsites.
