Ten years have passed since Andrew 'Drew' O'Connor last competed as a world-class downhill skier. Represented by his marketing savvy friend/PR agent Charles Morrison he's much in-demand with lucrative contracts endorsing high-profile products as well working as a sports commentator. As a result, he's highly sought by the paparazzi as he's frequently seen with an array of beautiful women when visiting nightspots frequented by celebrities. When he literally picks up a woman in church after breaking her fall, he can't believe he walked away from her without taking her number because, for the first time in years, she's a woman he wants to get to know on a personal level.
Ekaterina 'Kate' Porter is instantly attracted to the tall, black leather clad man after he catches her fall during a visit to St. Patrick's Cathedral. She later learns the identity of the mystery guy after seeing his image in the gossip column of a glossy magazine. When a PR agent rings with a tentative inquiry about an autobiography deal he's trying to establish for his A-list sporting client, her interest piqued as well as irked, when the name of the client isn't revealed. As a book editor with Atlas Publishing, she secretly hopes that the mystery athlete is the male currently dominating her dreams.
I dived in blind without any expectations and as with other books by this author, several twists throughout the plot keep the addictive narrative captivating. The protagonists are intriguing especially Drew because he's certainly a man who isn't what he seems...even to himself. Many challenges need confronting and I love it when an author chooses to make her hero and heroine intelligent; people who can work through difficult situations in a mature and not too dramatic way; without lots of verbal ping pong!
A mini plot that runs parallel with Drew and Kate's and I do wonder if this is setting the scene for a sequel. Although the ends are tied up in a satisfactory way, there's definitely a feeling of 'there is more to tell.' Of course, it could simply be wishful thinking on my part! Oh, and there's Mike Fielding too…!
Overall, this is fun, sexy book that kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read them. If you've not picked up a book by Ms. Schultz before then Falling Into Drew is a great place to start.
